Rehabilitation of Aging Watershed InfrastructureUpdated 09/19/2008 In Kentucky, there are approximately 200 watershed structures nearing the end of their 50-year design life. NRCS is available to assist sponsors that seek to repair and/or upgrade their structures. Kentucky NRCS is working closely with the Kentucky Division of Water to study PL-566 assisted watershed dams whose hazard classifications have been increased due to construction of homes or major highways below the dam. Dam owners are encouraged to contact the KY Division of Water, Dam Safety Section, with questions regarding hazard classification changes. Current Kentucky NRCS Watershed Rehabilitation ProjectsNRCS is or has assisted sponsors by providing engineering support, conducting inspections and/or preparing watershed assessments for many flood water retarding structures (FRS) and multiple purpose structures (MPS) including those listed below.
