N.  Bonus Points

• To receive bonus points for bottomland hardwood planting, the site being planted must have a soil that is identified as a flood plain or lower terrace soil in the county soil survey.

• Bonus points may be awarded for increasing the width of buffer practices. Points are awarded based on the width increase above the minimum requirement. Example: A participant wants to install a 50’ field border. The field border is 30’ wider than the required minimum of 20’, therefore besides receiving points under I. or J. for field border acreage, the participant is also entitled to 15 additional points. (30 Linear Feet x 0.5 points per linear foot = 15 bonus points). To receive points, the width increase must occur over at least 80% of the offered buffer length.

• Bonus points for Threatened and Endangered Species benefits may be awarded when the Practice Effects List found in section II of the eFOTG indicates a beneficial affect for the planned practice and when the practices is placed to achieve the beneficial effect.
