WHIP Ranking Criteria Items

I. Field Border: Planted (386)

• Field borders will only be planned when the primary land use is cropland, hayland, or pastureland.

• Field borders will be established to native grass and forbs as indicated on the ranking criteria. Seeding rates and species will be according to the “Grassland – Native Prairie Planting” section in the Upland Wildlife Habitat Management (645) standard.

• Field borders shall be between 20 and 120 feet wide.

• Livestock, when present, shall be excluded from the field border for the life of the contract.
