FY 2002 Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP) Summary Report

Updated 12/14/2005

Between 1998 and 2001, excluding 2000, Kentucky received on average over 360 applications requesting over $1,000,000 annually. The number of applications received for 2002 was approximately half of historical levels. Low program participation in 2002 was primarily due to the uncertainty of program funding and the late announcement of available funds.

We expect program participation to increase achieving historical program levels or higher in 2003. We are currently preparing to begin program advertisement and ranking in November to ensure adequate time to generate and rank many quality applications. ddd
