| | Prime Farmland

- The amount of prime farmland
in Kentucky has consistently decreased from 1982 to 1997. In 1982 there
were nearly 5.96 million acres of prime farmland in the state. In 1997,
this has decreased by about 282,600 acres to 5.68 million acres.
- Most of this decrease in prime farmland acres in
Kentucky is due to a change in land use from agricultural to urban
development and roads.
