In 1997, most acres of pastureland were on soils with Land
Capability Class II, III, and VI. Respectively, these acres: 1.41
million acres, 1.34 million acres, and 1.26 million acres. About 0.88
million acres were on soils with Land Capability Class IV and 0.75
million acres on Class VII.
